My guess was that at the end of their shift or when their quota was fulfilled, the rails transported them to a place where they could safely dismount their stools. There were multiple levels of these rails and desks reaching all the way to the ceiling and down into the chasm. But the stools and desks weren’t on the ground: they were mounted onto single, suspended rails that ran across the room. An enormous, Combine-modified warehouse consisting of one long room that extended far into the ground, filled with rows of workers perched on stools behind desks, frantically typing on typewriter-like machines. I had a hard time imagining what this ‘Stenographer’s Chasm’ could be, but I could never have imagined what it turned out to be. I deliberately sent them to the explosive barrels so the enemies would blow them up.The strange encounter had left me confused and a bit shaken, but I resolutely continued my journey and followed the Vortigaunt’s directions. PS- Those people that follow you through the tunnel (or the last part of the game) in that level are annoying as all hell. What a bag, eh? I despise PC games or anything that has to do with me having to constantly fork out money because computers get better every week. I didn't like the original port from the PC and I never played Half Life 2 on PC.

See, I've never played Half Life 2 before. Half Life was never on the xbox only Half Life 2 was on the xbox. It should be described in precise detail, rather than whatever he actually wrote in the guide. it would be common sense for the person writing, to write it as if no one knew what was going on. Please don't take this the wrong way (you seem like a nice guy) BUT.
